The current Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum refocusses upon Characteristics of Effective Learning (CoEL). I light of this when practioners are planning activities they must take into consideration the way that children in their care learn to achieve a deeper level of learning and development within the children in our care.
The EYFS stipulates our focus upon 3 key characteristics:
- Active Learning
- Creating and Thinking Critically
- Playing and Exploring
At part of the National Nursery Training Characteristics of Effective Learning Course we will investigate the 3 key characteristics, how we plan to incorporate these characteristics, learning styles and the development of process over outcome approach to learning where we switch the focus from what children learn to how they learn.
