This online equality and diversity training for nursery staff gives your whole team a clear understanding of the Equality Act 2010, the protected characteristics, and how to put inclusive practice at the heart of everyday work with children and families. Rather than treating equality as a policy on a shelf, the course shows staff how to apply its principles in the rooms, at the door and in every interaction.
For your setting, the benefits are practical as well as legal. A team that understands discrimination in all its forms is better equipped to promote equality, celebrate diversity and create an environment where every child and family feels they belong — and your training records will show certificated evidence of that understanding.
What you’ll learn

- Your legal obligations as a practitioner and as an employer
- How to provide inclusive support and embed equality in day-to-day practice

Who this course is for
All childcare and nursery staff — understanding equality and diversity obligations is a requirement for every member of the team, from apprentices to managers and owners. It works well as part of induction and as a whole-team refresher.
Why this training matters
Early years settings are required by law to promote equality, challenge discrimination and create an inclusive environment for every child and family. The Equality Act 2010 sets out those obligations, and staff need to understand both the nine protected characteristics and the forms discrimination can take in order to meet them. Certificated equality and diversity training gives your setting documented evidence of that understanding for compliance and audit.
How the course works
The course is delivered entirely online through media-rich learning with voiceovers, so staff can complete it at their own pace, on any device, around the demands of the nursery day. It takes approximately one hour, making it easy to roll out across a whole team.
Your certificate
On successful completion you will receive the Equality and Diversity course completion certificate, which can be used as evidence for compliance and audit and towards continuing professional development (CPD). National Nursery Training is an NFAQ-accredited provider, so your certificate carries recognised accreditation for your setting’s training records.
