£15.00

Sepsis, meningitis, breathing difficulty and dehydration: spot the red flags early and escalate with confidence.

Category:

Description

Most unwell children in your setting have minor illnesses — but a small number are seriously ill, and the adults who see them every day are best placed to notice early. This course teaches practitioners the red flags for sepsis, meningitis, breathing difficulty and dehydration, and exactly when and how to escalate.

What you’ll learn

  • Why early recognition saves lives — and your role in it
  • Knowing each child’s normal so you spot the change
  • Sepsis and meningitis: the signs you must never miss
  • Breathing difficulties, dehydration and high temperatures by age
  • When to call 999, when to call NHS 111, when to call parents
  • Recording, reporting and supporting everyone afterwards

This course complements — and does not replace — paediatric first aid training. On completion learners receive an NFAQ-accredited certificate as evidence for compliance and Ofsted.
