£15.00

Honest words, steady routines and a safe place to grieve: support young children through death, separation and change.

Category:

Description

When a family member dies, parents separate, or life at home changes suddenly, the nursery is often the steadiest place in a young child’s world. This course gives practitioners the confidence to say the right things, hold the routines that help, and support grieving children and their families with warmth and honesty.

What you’ll learn

  • How young children understand death and loss at different ages
  • What grief looks like in the early years — including regression and play
  • Honest language that helps, and the euphemisms that frighten
  • Supporting a bereaved child day to day in your setting
  • Family change: separation, new babies, moving and blended families
  • Looking after yourself and your team while you support others

On completion learners receive an NFAQ-accredited certificate as evidence for compliance and Ofsted.
