Description

Every early years setting must identify and support children with special educational needs — but many practitioners feel unsure once a concern moves beyond “keeping an eye on it”. This course walks you through the graduated approach step by step, from first observation to a well-evidenced EHC needs assessment request.

What you’ll learn

  • Your duties under the SEND Code of Practice and the role of the SENCO
  • Early identification: noticing, observing and acting without waiting for a diagnosis
  • The assess–plan–do–review cycle run properly in an early years setting
  • Writing support plans and one-page profiles that actually change practice
  • Bringing in outside professionals, funding routes and your Local Offer
  • When and how to request an EHC needs assessment, with evidence that stands up

On completion learners receive an NFAQ-accredited certificate as evidence for compliance and Ofsted.
